Beatrice Schmit, age 91, of Hospers, IA, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 surrounded by her children at Floyd Valley Health Care in Le Mars, IA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers, with Father Daniel Greving officiating and Deacon Dan Goebel assisting. Burial will follow in the St. Anthony Cemetery in Hospers. Visitation with family present will be 4- 7 p.m. Friday. There will be a rosary and a vigil prayer service all at 5 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers. Visitation will resume 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of gifts and flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to Brian Schmit to be

Beatrice Bange was born on July 14, 1933 to Edward and Marcella (Pohlen) Bange in Port Hudson, MO. She was raised in the Elsberry, MO area and received her education at Sand Ridge County School. She then began working for Wells-Lamont Glove Factory before moving to St. Louis to work at Killark electric.
On Jan. 2, 1960 she married Harold Schmit in St. Louis, MO. They made their home near Hospers where they were engaged in farming until 1994 when they moved into Hospers. Harold passed away June 1, 2019.
Over the years, Beatrice did volunteer work for the library, helped in the classroom at St. Anthony Catholic School, and was also an assistant cook at St. Anthony School for 5 years. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers where she was a member of the church guild and Christian Mothers. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, puzzles, canning, gardening, and her hanging flower baskets. She also enjoyed playing cards, dominos, and especially loved playing games with her kids and grandkids.
Survivors include her 6 children, Dennis (Deb) Schmit of Alton, IA, Christopher (Ruth Ann) Schmit of Hospers, IA, Ann (Cliff) McMurray of Kansas City, MO, Richard (Deanna) Schmit of Omaha, NE, Kenneth (Pam) Schmit of Hospers, IA, James (Joan) Schmit of Hospers, IA; 20 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her sister, Louise Spresterbach of Eureka, MO.; sisters-in- law, Linda Bange of Jefferson City, MO., Betty Bange of O’Fallon, MO, Jerry Den Hartog of Hospers, IA.; brother-in-law, Cyril Schmit of Remsen, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; siblings; Gregory Bange, Paul Bange, Dennis Bange; sisters, Loretta (John) Jurotich, Mary Ann Bange; In-Laws, Jerry Spresterbach, Bernice (Oscar) Block, Sylvester (Germaine) Schmit, Lucy (Dewain) DeRoos, Elanore Marie Schmit, George Kersten, Neal Den Hartog, and Clarice Schmit.
Casket bearers will be, Austin Schmit, Dustin Schmit, Andrew Kordick, Matthew Schmit, Cody Schmit, and Justin Schmit.
