Bernard “Ole” Oldenkamp

Bernard “Ole” Oldenkamp age 90 of Sibley, IA died Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Sibley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sibley, IA.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley with Reverend Roger Bouwman officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to the service in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 9th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Care.

Bernard Charles Oldenkamp was born August 21, 1923, at Alton, Iowa, the son of Charles and Anna (Prince) Oldenkamp. On September 16, 1942, he was united in marriage to Charolotte Haan. In 1945, he entered the Army. He was discharged August 1946. Ole was a member of the Sibley Christian Reformed Church and the George E. Mudge American Legion Post 324 of Sibley. Ole worked for Stachours as a mechanic for many years. When he left Stachours, he owned and operated Oldenkamp’s Station in Allendorf. He loved to match quarters and hand out tootsie rolls. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, driving school bus, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. Ole is survived by his daughters, Alice (John) Dykstra, Sheldon, Iowa, and Janice (John) Juffer, Sibley, Iowa; and his son, Richard (Marcia), Allendorf, Iowa; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; his parents; and a son, Charles Oldenkamp.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice Care.
