Beverly Ruthene Leemkuil, age 84 of Little Rock, Iowa died Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in George, Iowa.
A visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA with Rev. Daniel Stanley, officiating. The burial will be held in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, IA.
Beverly (Christians) Leemkuil was born on September 21, 1939, the daughter of Harm and Pearl (Venenga) Christians at the hospital in Adrian, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm along the Iowa and Minnesota state line. She attended the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, attended Sunday School and Catechism. She attended Country School District 14, Nobles County, Minnesota. She then attended High School in Ellsworth, graduating in 1958. After graduation Beverly worked for a local attorney in Sibley. She stayed with her Grandma Etta Christians during that summer and enjoyed that time with her grandma. In the fall of 1958, she decided to go to business school at Worthington Junior college, graduating in 1959. She then worked in Rock Rapids at Hindt & Hindt Attorneys. On September 20, 1960, Beverly was united in marriage to Dwight Leemkuil. She left her position at the attorney’s office and raised her family: Mark, Todd, Jerry, and Rita. Dwight and Bev farmed and retired from farming in 1985. In 1985, they drove truck for John McCarthy together for 3 1/2 years. After that, Bev served lunches at the Little Rock school for one year. She then worked for 10 years at the Ace Hardware store in Sibley, retiring in 1999. Bev and Dwight enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona and enjoyed taking vacations with their grandchildren. Beverly was very proud of her family and loved them all very dearly.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dwight of Little Rock, IA; children, Mark (Wendy) Leemkuil of Little Rock, IA; Todd (Nancy) Leemkuil of Ogden, IA; Jerry (Lisa) Leemkuil of Owatonna, MN; and Rita (James) Tinius of Brentwood, TN; granddaughters, Kaitlyn (Chris) Helton of Ft. Dodge, IA; Jessica Leemkuil of Johnston, IA and her fiancé, Mike Ferrang; Marissa (Michael) Hout of Sioux Falls, SD; Maranda (Van) Shibley of Sioux Falls, SD; Mariah Leemkuil of Sioux Falls, SD; Abigail Leemkuil of Owatonna, MN and her fiancé, Ben Sutcliffe; and Lily Leemkuil of Owatonna, MN; grandson, Zachary Tinius of Nashville, TN; two great grandchildren, Emilie Helton and James Ferrang; brother, Mick (Barbara) Christians of Windom, MN; sisters-in-law, Shirley Christians of Little Rock, IA and Sylvia Christians of Henderson, NV along with many extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harm and Pearl Christians; sister, Phyllis; and brothers, Orville and Harlan Christians.
