Dale F. Katt

Dale F. Katt, age 85 of Rock Rapids went home to his Savior on Tuesday, September 1.

The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, September 11, 2020, at the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids on Saturday, September 12th at 10:30 AM, with the family present at 10 AM. All are invited for lunch and fellowship at the East Shelter House at Lake Pahoja immediately following the service. Friends are also welcome to linger and spend the day at the lake, a place that Dale loved.

The Miller Funeral Home of Sioux Falls is in charge of arrangements for Dale Katt.

Dale F. Katt, son of Walter and Alvira (Klein) Katt, was born on July 8th, 1935 in Inwood, IA. He attended country school before graduating from Inwood High, where he excelled in sports and FFA.

On April 12th, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mildred Harmsen. Dale worked for the government for 7 years, then farmed the rest of his career, moving to town in 2007. Dale was a devoted husband, caring for Mildred as her health declined. After 62 years of marriage, she passed away in November 2019.

He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church and the Gun Club. He loved deer hunting with his brothers and nephews, and spent many hours fishing at Lake Pahoja, where the staff knew him fondly as Grandpa Cookie. Dale was always willing to lend a helping hand and took pride in a job well done. Dale loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Dale spent just five days at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD, where he received incredible care and compassion. He went home to his Savior on Tuesday, September 1.

Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Brenda Yeager, Rock Rapids; five grandchildren, McKenzie, Joseph, Caitlyn, Jacob and Isaac; a great-granddaughter, Bennett; his siblings, Jim (Lynne) Katt, Rock Rapids, Dorothy Ter Wee, Sioux Falls, Jean Kock, Inwood, Mary Van Roekel, Larchwood, Karen (Doug) Wiggins, Greeley, CO, and Kathleen (Gary) Dieren, Rock Rapids; a sister in-law, Leona Harmsen, Rock Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, a sister Elaine (Leroy) Osvog, brothers Don (June) and Bill; and brothers in-law, Marinus Ter Wee, Ralph Kock, and Wally Van Roekel.
