Darryl E. Swartz, age 79, of Boyden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be Friday, March 14, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Rev. Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be Saturday, March 15, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa. Friends and Family may visit on Friday, one hour prior to the Funeral Service, at the church.

Darryl Eugene Swartz was born on September 25, 1934 in Waterloo, Iowa. He was the son of Spencer and Eva (Swartzel) Swartz. He lived his youth in the Waterloo and Evansdale, Iowa area where he attended school and graduated from East High School in Waterloo.
He was united in marriage to Meredith Applegate of Ames, Iowa on July 25, 1954 in Ames. They lived in Evansdale, Iowa; Greeley, Colorado; Fort Collins, Colorado; Security, Colorado and Corwith, Iowa. Darryl worked as a United States Postal Employee and served as a volunteer firefighter in Evansdale, Iowa. After he retired he moved to Corwith, Iowa and worked at R & R Electric, which he really enjoyed.
He was a member of Corwith United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge, VFW, and Odd Fellows.
Darryl and Meredith enjoyed traveling and living life together. He also spent time fishing and hunting deer and elk in the southwest Colorado Mountains with friends.
Meredith passed away in 1991. Darryl later moved to Boyden, Iowa, because of medical reasons to be near his son, Jim. He attended the United Methodist Church in Sheldon with Jim.
He passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, Iowa.
Those left to cherish his memories are his two sons: James and wife Luan Swartz of Boyden, IA, Jack Swartz of Storm Lake, IA; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers: Charles Swartz of Chicago, IL and Carl Swartz of Fort Collins, CO; one sister: Georgia Secor of Waterloo, IA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Meredith; his parents; two sisters, Berniece and Beverly; one brother, LeRoy.
