Dean Niswander

2492100_220w_1Dean Niswander, age 57, of Ocheyedan, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Friends may visit with the Dean Niswander Family on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Chapel in Ocheyedan.

Burial in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery of Ocheyedan, Iowa following visitation.

Dean Robert Niswander was born on June 20, 1956 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He is the son of David and Kathryn (Wise) Niswander. He lived his youth in Ocheyedan, Iowa where he attended school. Deanworked in construction building elevators with Mel Jarvis Construction, Vigen Construction, and Jacobsen and Sons Construction for over 20 years. He then worked for area farmers until he was forced to quit working due to his health.
Dean loved his nieces and nephews and spent as much time with them as he could. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and being outdoors. Through the years he participated in several leagues including pool, dart, and bowling; and loved playing cards. In recent years he enjoyed riding around in his golf cart. His favorite quote was: a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.
Dean passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Those left to cherish his memories are his mother, Kathryn Niswander of Ocheyedan, IA; his brothers, Steve and Barb Niswander of Ocheyedan, IA and their children, Levi (Ciara) Niswander, Nicole (Brad) Holmberg, and Dylan Niswander; Neil Niswander of Ocheyedan, IA and his daughter, Emma Niswander; his sisters, Diane and Chuck Benz of Melvin, IA, and their children, Jesse (Ashley) Benz, Jaron (Courtney) Benz, and Jordan Benz; Brenda Drenkow of Spearfish, SD and her children, Christopher (Chelsea) Hattendorf and Austen Drenkow; Robin McDaniel and fiancé Phil Flores of Polk City, IA and Robin’s son Cameron Vos; Lorrain Bremer of Ankeny, IA and her daughter Hannah; as well as one great nephew and five great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Niswander; nephew Lucas Hattendorf; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Helen Niswander; maternal grandparents, Henry and Jesse Schultz.
