Delbert Haht

Haht, DelbertDelbert Haht, age 92, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa.

His services will be Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2:00pm at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Craig Nissen ~ officiating. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa, with Military Graveside Services by the American Legion Mc Glothlen-Cowie Post #145 of Sheldon.

Visitation will be after 2:00pm Saturday, February 23rd with the family present from 6:00 -8:00pm at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa.

Delbert Henry William Haht, the son of Ernest and Elizabeth (Thomas) Haht was born December 10, 1920 in Paullina, Iowa. Delbert was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith as a child living in Paullina where he also received his education. Delbert served in the United States Army during World War II. On July 11, 1946, he was united in marriage to Anna Muriel DeZeeuw in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and the couple made their home in Sheldon, Iowa. Delbert worked for AMPI in Sanborn, Iowa, for 37 years; where he hauled milk and was a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Muriel Haht on January 12, 1998. Delbert remained in his home before moving into the Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon where he passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 reaching the age of 92 years, 2 months and 10 days.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the American Legion Mc Glothlen-Cowie Post #145 all of Sheldon. He enjoyed fishing in his younger years.

Delbert is survived by his daughter, Marcia and her husband, Rod De Boer of Leota, Minnesota; a brother and his wife, Henry and Kathryn Haht of Sutherland, Iowa and a sister, Bernice Herra of Custer, South Dakota; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a sister, Mildred Darr and two brothers, Melvin and William C. Haht.
