Mr. Dennis Beltman, age 62, of Orange City, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014, at his residence.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, March 11, at 10:30am, at the New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Orange City. The Rev. Jeffrey Whitt and the Rev. Nicholas Koenig will officiate. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:30PM at the First Reformed Church with Rev. Tanner Smith officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
Jerry Allen Van Wyk was born June 6, 1964 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Elizabeth (Lammers) Van Wyk. Jerry was raised in George, Iowa, graduating from George Community High School with the Class of 1982. He went on to study electronics at Western Iowa Technical School in Sioux City, Iowa.
Jerry made his home in Omaha, Nebraska for several years where he was part-owner of Beeper Communications. Later he worked for Messenger Express as a courier. In 2005, he settled in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Jerry was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering with electronics, fishing and boating.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Van Wyk of Sioux Center; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Lori Van Wyk of Garretson, SD along with his niece, Katelyn Faith Van Wyk. Jerry is also survived by several aunts and uncles: Hermina Richmond, Nelvina Mulder, Hendrene Kalsbeek all of Sioux Center, Peter and Kathleen Van Wyk of Orange City, John and Norma Van Wyk of Sioux Center and several cousins.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Van Wyk.
