Dennis D. Wildeman

Dennis D. Wildeman, age 69, of Des Moines, formally Sheldon, passed away from a courageous battle against cancer on July 21st.

Services will be held on August 16th, at 2:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd, 3820 SW 9th St in Des Moines with a Luncheon to follow.

Des Moines Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis was born in Sheldon, Iowa and later moved to Des Moines, where he met the love of his life, Laurie, who spent over 40 years by his side. He worked many years as an electrician at Armstrong, then a design tech at Mid American Energy, and had retired in 2020. Denny was a simple man who loved to go on adventures with his wife, fish, bowl, golf, cook, spend time with family and friends, and always had a few minutes to enjoy a cold beer and give someone a good laugh.

To say he was an amazing man, is truly an understatement. He was always willing to give a hand to anyone in need, and spent many hours volunteering and helping within the church. Dennis was a great son, brother, and friend; he was a wonderful husband and father. However, his most honorary title, was being “Papa” to his five, very loved, grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Laurie, two children:  Amy and Kyle (Saadat), five grandchildren: Zelda, Estrella, Lucius, Pheonyx and Mina; his mother, Greta, and his siblings Randy Wildeman, Kathryn (Brian) Koele, Debi (Randy) Byers, Mark (Donna) Wildeman, Ruth (Mark) Wolterstorff. He is preceded in death by his father, Arnold, and his brother Richard.
