Ester Adkins

Ester Adkins, age 90 of Ashton, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21st at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, with Fr. Siby Punnoose, celebrating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Ashton.

Visitation will be Friday, April 20th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. with the family present at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton.  There will be a rosary at 4:30 p.m. with a vigil service to follow at the church.

Ester Adkins was born October 10, 1927 at the Philippines the daughter of Cicelia DeLara Romulo.  Ester grew up at Philippines where she received her education.  She was united in marriage to Donald Adkins on February 24, 1960 at the Philippines.  They made their home at Clarion, IA and in 1980 they moved to Asthon.  While living in Clarion, she worked as a cook for the Clarion school district.  When she and Don moved to Ashton, Ester stayed at home and took care of their home along with some babysitting for local families.  She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton.  This past Tuesday morning, April 17, 2018, Ester passed away at the Sibley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sibley, at the age of ninety.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Adkins of Ashton; one brother, in California, and one sister in New York.

 Ester was preceded in death by her parents.
