Ethel Kruger, age 79 of George, IA died unexpectedly, Saturday, March 1, 2014 at her home near George.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 8th at Zoar Presbyterian Church of rural George, IA, with Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, IA. Visitation will be Friday, March 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home of George.

Ethel Ann Kruger was born January 4, 1936 at her family farm in S.W. Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Sena (Stubbe) Rustman. At a young age Ethel and her family moved to George, IA, where she attended and graduated from George Community School in 1953.
On March 15, 1954 Ethel was united in marriage to Richard D. Kruger at Ethel’s parents’ home in George. They lived for a short time in Luverne, MN before moving to back to George area to farm Richard’s family farm. While she helped with the daily duties of the farm she also worked at the Sibley Creamery. In 1963 Ethel and family moved to Buckley, WA, where she worked at Mount Rainier School for Handicap. In 1968 they returned to the family farm east of George. She worked various places such as Chase Bag Company in Sibley, before she earned her Nursing Assistant Certificate and worked at Good Samaritan Society for nearly 15 years, retiring in 2008.
She was a previous member of Enumclaw First Baptist Church in Washington, where she served at Clerk. She was a member of Zoar Presbyterian Church of George, active with the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed camping and volunteering at Cutty’s Resort in Okoboji, reading, shopping and visiting with friends and family. Ethel is survived by one son, Steven (Jan) Kruger of Centennial, CO; two daughters, Debra Ann (Rodger) Macer of Boxelder, SD and Karen Kay Blair of Worthington, MN; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Jurrens of LeMars, IA and Thelma Brown of Belleview, NE; one brother-in-law, Dick Curtis of Cherokee, IA; and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Sena Rustman; husband of 50 years, Richard Kruger; one sister, Marlys “Jeanie” Curtis; and one grandson, Theodore Robert Kamstra.
