Geraldine “Gerry” Brower

Geraldine “Gerry” Brower, age 89, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon.

Funeral Services will be Friday, November 21, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon. Rev. Kevin Gingerich officiating.

Private burial at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

There will be no visitation.

The Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in charge of arrangements for Geraldine “Gerry” Brower.

Geraldine “Jerry” Brower was born on September 29, 1925 in Sheldon, Iowa. She was the daughter of Bart and Mary (Reekers) Van Roekel. She lived her youth in Sheldon where she attended school and graduated from high school.

She was united in marriage to Franklin J. Brower Sr. of Sheldon, Iowa on February 9, 1946 in Sheldon. They lived in Sheldon and worked at Brower Bakery for many years before moving to Grand Island, Nebraska where Frank worked as a baker and salesman for J.W. Allen Company in Chicago. Frank passed away on March 15, 1981 in Grand Island. Jerry moved back to Sheldon and worked at Wolf’s Department Store until it closed and then she retired.

She was a baptized member of the United Methodist Church in Sheldon.

Jerry enjoyed working, sewing and playing golf.

She passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon.

Those left to cherish her memories are her son and daughter-in-law: Jerrie Joe and Marlise Browerof Rapid City, SD; one daughter and son-in-law: Virginia Lee and Richard Cregar of Clayton, NC; daughter-in-law: Joni Brower of Omaha, NE; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother: Abe Van Roekel of Sheldon, IA; one sister: Martha Oester of Mesa, AZ; many nieces and nephews and especially Darla Schuler, who gave so much of her time helping Jerry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; daughter, Mary Jane Ecret; son, Frank BrowerJr.; one granddaughter, Lynn Brower; one great-granddaughter, Mariah Brower; her parents; two sisters and their husbands, Nancy Sanders and Rena Caldwell; one brother, Art Van Roekel; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Van Roekel; one brother-in-law, Ken Oester.
