Gloria M. Wissink, age 83 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Rock Rapids Health Centre.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 4th at the Christian Church (Disciples) in Rock Rapids, with Rev. Carolyn Salberg officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, IA.
Visitation will be Monday, November 3rd from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

Gloria Mae Wissink was born September 19, 1931 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John C. and Ida (Hamlin) Frohloff. She was raised in Rock Rapids and attended the community schools, graduating from Rock Rapids High School in 1949. As a young woman she worked at J.C. Penny’s Store.
On April 15, 1951 Gloria was united in marriage to Melvin H. Wissink in Rock Rapids, IA. Gloria worked as the elementary school secretary for 33 years before retiring in 1991. After retirement she worked part time at Doris Doty’s Clothing Store in Rock Rapids. On July 28, 2004 Gloria’s husband, Melvin, died suddenly, after 53 years of marriage.
Gloria was a member of Christian Church (Disciples) in Rock Rapids, where she taught Sunday school for many years, played piano and sang in the church choir. Also, she was a member of the Rock Rapids Mural Society. She loved to read magazines and newspapers, she taught Cub scouts for many years, visit with people and most of all spend time with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed traditional holidays and the family gatherings.
She is survived by her three children, Scott (wife, Sandy) Wissink of Rock Rapids, IA, Kent Wissink of Sioux Falls, SD and Melanie (husband, Steve) Cuperus of George, IA; nine grandchildren, Jamie (wife, Katie) Wissink, Jessica Wissink (special friend, Mike McGraw), Brandon Wissink (special friend, Megan Soucie), Steve Wissink, Stan (wife, Jaselyn) Wissink, Ashley (husband, Jeremy) Boone, Amy De Groot, Alyssa (husband, Matt) Brummel, and Evan Cuperus; five great-grandchildren, Abby and Hailee Boone, Brooklynn Dailey, Chloe and Maddox Wissink; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Morlock TeSlaa of Rock Rapids, IA; one brother-in-law, Gerrit Vander Kolk of Doon, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Frohloff, her husband, Melvin Wissink; an infant son; one brother-in-law, Delmer Wissink; and one sister-in-law, Betty Vander Kolk.
