Mr. Henry Huitink, age 92, of Orange City, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Orange City Area Health System in Orange City.
There will be a funeral service on Saturday, March 22, at 11:00am, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Haverdink will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 4:30pm on Friday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Henry William was born on February 23, 1922, in rural Orange City, the son of William and Dena (Huisman) Huitink. He was raised in rural Orange City, Newkirk, and Middleburg, where he attended country schools through the eighth grade.
On October 12, 1944, he married Viola Jasper at Orange City. They made their home on the Huitink family farm near Newkirk for 35 years. In 1990, they moved to Orange City. Viola passed away on February 21, 2008, in Remsen.
In April of 2008, Henry moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. He transferred to the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen in July of 2012, the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility in March of 2013, and the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City in October of 2013.
Henry was a farmer, did custom baling, and worked as a distributor for McNess. He enjoyed watching old time TV shows and game shows, listening to gospel music, hot chocolate and bread pudding at Nederlanders, and spending time with his family.
He was a lifetime member of the First Reformed Church, where he was baptized and made confession of faith.
Survivors include his six children and their spouses, Carol and Jack Oolman and Leona and Jerry De Boer, all of Orange City; Wilson and Marilyn Huitink, of Sloan; Jim and Lorri Huitink, of Hospers; Diane and Marlin Vollink, of Orange City; and Harlan and Nelva Huitink, of Hospers; grandchildren, Kathy and Tony Fedora, Terry and Beth Oolman, Dan and Heidi Oolman, Mark and Aggie De Boer, Maria and Quenton Nelson, Jonathon Huitink, Jeanette and Alvin Diaz, Kerri and Jim Mertz, Eric and Jessie Huitink, Wade Vollink, Joshua Vollink, Mikayla Vollink, Heath Huitink, Paige Huitink, and Bryce Huitink; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Mina De Smit, of Orange City; six sisters-in-law, Elsie Meendering, of Sioux Center; Harriet Sprik, of Platte, South Dakota; Helene Jasper, of Seal Beach, California; Clara Jasper, of Ontario, California; and Betty Jasper and Eunice Huitink, both of Orange City; and many nephews and nieces, including Linda De Smit of Orange City.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Arie De Smit, and Viola’s brothers and sisters and their spouses, Jessie and John Jeltema, Jim and Henrietta Jasper, John and Kate Jasper, Arie and Bernice Jasper, Rena and Tony Huizenga, Alice and Clarence Haarsma, Ray and Eleanor Jasper, Hermina and Ray Terpstra, Marion and Wilma Jasper, George Jasper, Vernon Jasper, Vera and Clarence Huitink, Gertrude Tucker, Clarence Jasper, Henry Sprik, and Albert Meendering.
Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Christian School or the Kids Connection at First Reformed Church in Orange City.
