The Andringa Funeral of Sibley in charge of arrangements for Ike Adreon.

Ivell Arne “Ike” Adreon was born on June 5, 1938 in Sibley, Iowa. He was the son of Illan Maylon and Louise (Lursen) Adreon. He lived his youth in Sibley where he attended school, was one of the first Boy Scouts in Sibley, and graduated from high school in 1956. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Tail Gunner on a B36 with the 6th Bombardment Wing Heavy Strategic Air Command. Ike worked at the Sibley Cement Plant, joined the Sibley Sheriff’s Department, started Ike’s Tree Service and “End Of The Trail Saloon”. He was a distributor for car products and was a gun enthusiast.

He was united in marriage to Leesa Renken of George, Iowa on January 23, 1982 in Sibley. They lived on an acreage east of town and developed it into a rustic wildlife sanctuary. They enjoyed fishing, planting trees, traveling to gun shows, going for rides, and being together.

Ike’s life revolved around his family, the outdoors, nature, hunting, and fishing which was instilled in him by his father, grandfather and uncle. He was extra fond of his hunting dogs, special cats, and mule of which many memories and stories were created.

Ike became an expert on gun knowledge, mostly antique guns, and their manufacturing, workings, who owned them, and total history.
Ike will be remembered for all he accomplished. He was very talented with his hands and worked hard. He liked to pass along knowledge, was a great story teller and loved to reminisce. He was an interesting individual, who would have been truly happy living in the 1800’s.

Ike had a lot more he wanted to do but his declining health started taking him down, so he ended up relying on his memories and stories to account for all he had done in his life.

He passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at his home east of Sibley.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Leesa Adreon of Sibley, IA; his sister and brother-in-law: Ilea and Dave Herbert of Sibley, IA; his aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
