John “Jake” Daniel Wright Holley, 24, of Orange City died September 24, 2014 at home.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 AM Thursday October 2, 2014 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, Iowa with Pastor Jeff Richard officiating. Visitation will be after 3 PM on Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the family present from 5-7 PM. Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds, Iowa.
Memorials to the Culinary Arts Department of Indian Hills Community College may be left at the funeral home or cemetery or mailed to the family at 10417 Dewberry Avenue, Libertyville, IA 52567.
Jake was born September 23, 1990 in Bakersfield, California. He grew up in the Libertyville, IA community, and graduated from Fairfield Community High School and Indian Hills Community College Culinary Arts Program where he was honored by being on the Dean’s List. He was a chef at Northwestern College, Orange City. In 2008 he was the first State of Iowa Army Youth Volunteer of the year Award Winner.
Surviving are his parents, Aaron and Juli Waugh of Libertyville, Lee Gant of Fairfield and Kent Holley of Grand Island, NE; two brothers, Steve Gant (Lauren) of Muscatine and Matthew “Rusty” Gant of Boulder, CO; a niece and nephew, Elsie and Chase and grandparents, James Waugh of Libertyville and Duane and Kay Holley of Grand Island, NE.
