Judy Penning Wilshire

Judy Penning Wilshire, formerly of Hospers passed away on October 11, 2021,at Bondurant, IA at the age of 68.

A graveside Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA.

Judy Penning was born November 3, 1952, to Arthur and Lois (Eich) Penning. She was raised on a family farm by Hospers, IA, and graduated from Spalding Catholic High School in Granville, IA in 1970. Judy married William Wilshire in 1976 in Hospers, IA. She lived most of her adult life in Sioux City, IA. Judy worked for different construction companies and retired from JarcoDrywall Supply in May 2019. After retirement, she moved to Ankeny, IA. In August 2021, she moved to Courtyard Estates in Bondurant, IA.

Judy had a special love for her family which was evident by the many pictures proudly displayed in her apartment. She left this parting advice to her grandchildren: “Be strong, work hard, be kind and don’t forget to laugh!” Judy perfectly described her own life in these final words to her family. One of Judy’s greatest joys was to fish with her grandchildren. The love of fishing was instilled in her at an early age. Fishing with siblings, neighbors, cousins and friends at Penning Pit next to the family farm was a fond childhood memory for Judy.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, baby daughter Jillian in 1984, grandson Jordan Jepsen in 1998, and brother Roger Penning in 2007. She is survived by her daughter Tammy (Martin) Dalcourt of South Sioux City, NE, son Jason (Holly) Wilshire of Bondurant, IA, grandchildren Michael (Ashlie) Jepsen of Marion, IA, Darin (Kortney) Jepsen of Beresford, SD, Christian (Kiely) Jepsen of Sioux City, IA, Domenic (Kelsie) Dalcourt of South Sioux City, NE, Dante (Emelinne) Dalcourt of Des Moines, IA, Breanna Wilshire and Dakota Wilshire of Bondurant, IA, great grandchildren, Logan, Rain, Addyson, Meadow, Ryleigh, Liam, Elliot and Jack, a brother Ron Penning of Matlock, IA, a sister Kathy (Merwin) Kruger of Sheldon, IA, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
