Lemoyne “Lee” Bleeker, age 92 of Sheldon, IA, formerly of George, IA, passed away on May 21, 2024, at the Sanford Hospital of Sheldon.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 25th at First Baptist Church, George, IA, with Pastor Kevin Lardy officiating. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the First Baptist Church.
Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of George.

Lemoyne Agge Bleeker was born July 14, 1931, to Hiram and Grace (Burfeindt) Bleeker in Chancellor, SD. At an early age his family moved to George, IA. He attended George High School and graduated in 1949. He then entered the U.S. Navy on October 24, 1950, and served in the Korea War. He was honorably discharged on August 4, 1954. He then continued his education at LeTourneau Technical College in Longview, TX. There he studied engineering until he was involved in an automobile accident. He returned to George, IA and began working at Grotluschen’s Hardware.
Lee was united in marriage to Leola Adel Jurrens on June 24, 1955, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George. Lee and Leola were blessed with three children: Linnae, Lyndon and Lori. In 1968 Lee started working in the parts department for Sudenga Industries in George. Lee retired in 1996, as a partner and co-owner. In the year 2000, Lee and Leola moved to Sheldon, Iowa to be near their family. On September 21, 2014, Lee’s wife, Leola Bleeker passed away. Lee continued living in Sheldon and lived an active life.
Lee was a member of First Baptist Church in George, serving as Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon. He was a charter member of the George Kiwanis Club, and the George Community Development Corporation. He was a member of the Musical Messengers singing group, where he sang tenor. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, fishing, travel and especially spending time with his family.
Lee is survived by a daughter, Linnae (Gregg) Maakestad of Osage, IA; son, Lyndon Bleeker of St. Louis, MO; and daughter, Lori (William) Jongewaard of Sheldon, IA; 9 grandchildren; 9.5 great- grandchildren; brother, Melvyn (Jan) Bleeker of Minneapolis, MN; brother-in-law, John Foiles; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Grace Bleeker; his wife of 59 years, Leola Bleeker; siblings, Al (Florence) Bleeker, Elvira Foiles, Celesta Bleeker and Ivan Bleeker; sister-in-law, LaVetta (Jacob) Kruger; and a special great-nephew, Sam Kruger.
