Lucille “Lucy” M. Knobloch, age 80 of Rock Rapids, IA died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Premier Estates Assisted Living in Rock Rapids, IA.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 9th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, Iowa. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, April 8th with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall in Lester. Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids is in charge of services.
Lucy was born August 9, 1932 in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of William and Mary (Schifferer) Spohr. She was raised on a farm by South Elgin, IL and graduated from Elgin High School in 1950. After graduation she remained living with her parents and did clerical work for the Kerber Packing Plant in Elgin.
On November 20, 1954 Lucy was united in marriage to Alfred “Al” Knobloch in Elgin, IL. They farmed in the Lester area for thirty-five years. She also worked at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN as a cook for twenty-seven years. In 1997 Al and Lucy moved to their home in Rock Rapids, IA. Lucy was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester and was baptized on December 5, 1965. Lucy loved gardening, flowers, and sharing her produce. Al and Lucy enjoyed traveling together and loved spending time with family and friends. Lucy was a very giving and caring person, always remembering others on holidays and special events. On June 2, 2005 Lucy’s husband Al died, after fifty years of marriage. Lucy remained living in Rock Rapids, where she continued gardening and spending time with her family and church.
In September of 2008 Lucy moved to Premier Estates in Rock Rapids and remained there until her death.
She is survived by six children and their spouses, Ronda (Jim) Thielen of Harrisburg, SD, Lola (Dan) Deragisch of Eagan, MN, Kim (Todd) Massner of Mediapolis, IA, Carla Knobloch of Lester, IA, Cameron (Tamara) Knobloch of Whittemore, IA and Penny (Jim) Domnick of Morris, MN. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, Jesse Te Slaa, Josh (Jessica) Te Slaa, Joel (Christy) Te Slaa, Ashley and Dominic Thielen, Brent (Tina) Deragisch, Tera (Bud) Rundquist, Carissa Deragisch, Christa (Bruce) Grandits, Amanda (Darin) Banwart, Braden and Corbin Knobloch, Erica, Toni, and Brandi Domnick, and Bo and Hunter Massner; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Knobloch; her daughter, Pamela Knobloch; her parents, William and Mary Spohr; and her brothers, Harv and Les Spohr.
