Melvin “Meff” Knobloch

Melvin “Meff” Knobloch age 87, of Lester, Iowa died Sunday, September 25, 2022, at at his home in Lester, IA.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA.  Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery at Lester, IA.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 27th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester.

 

Melvin “Meff” Gerhart Knobloch was born to Emil and Frieda (Doerr) Knobloch on November 2, 1934, at the family farm near Alvord, IA.  After completing 10th grade he was called home to help his dad on the family farm.  Meff served in the US Army from 1957-1959 and was stationed in Ft Hood, TX and Ft Devens, Mass.  Meff also spent many years in the construction trade with his brother Gib.  Meff was united in marriage to Wilma Tanner at her family home near Speer, IL on Feb 6, 1966.  Together they were blessed with 5 children.

Meff and Wilma lived near rural Steen, MN where they farmed for 33 years.  They retired to Rock Rapids, IA in 1999, before moving to Lester in 2012.  During his retirement Meff enjoyed woodworking and fixing things for others.  He was known for his sense of humor and his unique fingersnap.

Meff & Wilma made a decision to put their faith in Jesus Christ and were baptized in Sept 1966 at the Lester Apostolic Christian Church.

Meff passed away Sept 25, 2022, after an extended battle with cancer surrounded by his entire family. Those left to cherish Meff’s memory are his wife of 56 years, Wilma Knobloch of Lester and their 5 children, Derek (Connie) Knobloch, Alvord, IA, Denton (Rose) Knobloch, West Bend, IA, Julie (Nick) Schmidt, Winthrop, MN, Dudley (Sara) Knobloch and Dustin (Michelle) Knobloch all of Rock Rapids, IA along with 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Also surviving are 3 brothers, Gilbert Knobloch of Rock Rapids, IA, Clyde (Charlene) Knobloch of Mackinaw, IL and William (Bill) (Eleanor) Knobloch of Tremont, IL.  One sister Esther (Dennis) Warner of Rock Rapids, IA and many other nieces and nephews.

Melvin was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Alfred Knobloch and Silas Knobloch, two sisters, Libbie DenHartog and Naomi Knobloch and 4 grandchildren, Tanner, Tia, Tasha and Tad Knobloch.
