Mike Mace Heiller, Age 72 of Sheldon, Iowa and formerly of Ocheyedan Iowa, passed away at his residence on September 27, 2026.
Mike was born May 1, 1954, to Delaware Floyd Heiller and Ruby Lorraine Fink and raised on an acreage in rural Ocheyedan Iowa. He graduated high school in Seward, Nebraska and lived on and off at the family acreage for the next 50 years.
In 1975, Mike married Laura Fleishing and the couple was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Amanda Meredith. In 1995, Mike married Patsy Queener Bailey. They lived on his acreage for 30 years, where mike enjoyed tending his 5-acre garden, playing word games, watching his favorite television programs, and solving jigsaw puzzles with amazing skill.
Later in life, Mike was disabled but kept quite busy. He worked part-time in construction and as a mechanic, but he mostly focused on maintaining the acreage for the family. He liked planting sunflowers and vegetable gardens, taking care of his father‘s walnut Grove by trimming trees, and cutting walking paths through the wild grass.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ruby, sisters, Constance and Judith, brother Paul, and granddaughter Anna Reese.
Those left to grieve Mike are his wife, Patsy, his daughter, Amanda Meredith, grandsons Aidan and Asher, many nieces and nephews, his sister Judith and her family in Minnesota, his sister Kathy Smith and her many nieces, as well as Nana and Sophia and great nieces.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 1 PM at Living Water Community Church Sheldon, followed by refreshments afterward.
Family and close friends are invited to sprinkle his remains over the acreage at 180th St. on Tanner Avenue on the bridge, followed by sprinkling his remains at the family plot in Melvin at Township Community cemetery in Royal Melvin.
