Nicole Schuett

Nicole Schuett, 40, of Le Mars, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota following a 2 year courageous battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. with Reverend Gary Landsness officiating.  Inurnment will be at a later date at the Laurens Cemetery, Laurens, Iowa.

Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Visitation will continue Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Memorials can be directed to the Le Mars Community School District Foundation  to establish a scholarship in Nicole’s memory.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com.

Nicole, daughter of Phil and Pam (Tiernan) Grove was born on July 15, 1971 in Des Moines.  She attended school in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon HS  in 1990.  She attended Morningside College and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.  She graduated with a degree in Education and taught special education at Remsen Union before moving to Le Mars in 2000, where she taught special education in the Le Mars Middle School the past 12 years.

Nicole was united in marriage to Chris Schuett on October 1, 1994.  They have two children, Alexandria, 19, Zachary, 15, and a dog named Buddy.  Nicole never missed an opportunity to attend her children’s sporting events or other activities; and she loved their family vacations.

Nicole also loved spending time with her many school friends, and spending weekends at Lake Okoboji during the summer, hanging out with friends, boating, and laying by the pool.  She was the life of any party and her laugh and great sense of humor were contagious. She always lit up a room with her presence.

Nicole was a member of St John’sLutheran Church where she taught confirmation classes and Sunday School for several years; she was a past member of the YMCA Board; and she volunteered to help with various activities in which her children were involved.  Nicole was an inspiration to others with her positive attitude throughout her battle with Cancer.

Survivors include her husband, Chris; children Alexandria and Zachary; parents Phil and Pam Grove of Sheldon; brother, Shawn Grove and his wife Jennifer, and their son Landon and future son Easton of Charlotte, NC; her grandparents: Dewayne Peterson of Laurens, IA, Jeannette Grove of Lake City, IA, and Kenneth Tiernan and his wife Ruth of Albuquerque, NM; her husband’s parents John and Becky Schuett of Spirit Lake, IA;  in-laws:  Tim Schuett and his family Carter, Molly, and Logan of Hudson, WI and Emily Bossard and her husband Dave and their son Lucas of Milford, IA.

Nicole was preceded in death by a nephew, Jacob Bossard; maternal grandmother, Pearl Peterson and paternal grandfather Leland Grove. ©
