Patricia “Pat” Kleinhesselink, age 77 of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, Iowa. Her Memorial Service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Dave Van Kley officiating.
Burial with a graveside service will be at 9:45 A.M. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa.
Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Andringa Funeral Home of Sheldon, Iowa.
Arrangements are under the care of the Andringa Funeral Home of Sheldon.
Patricia “Pat” Kay Kleinhesselink the daughter of Howard and Geraldean (Vander Wilt) Hofmeyer was born on March 2, 1946, in Sibley, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in Sibley and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1964. On November 25, 1966, she was united in marriage to Larry Dale Kleinhesselink at Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon, IA. In 1967, Larry joined the US Army and for a year and a half they made their home in Germany. They eventually made their home in Sheldon. Pat worked with her parents at the Dairy Dandy Drive-In for several years before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother. She also did the books and packed many lunches for L-K Construction. Larry passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at their home in Sheldon, Iowa. Pat remained in their family home with their dog Lucky and continued assisting the boys with the business bookkeeping. Patricia passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center surrounded by those she loved, reaching the age of 77 years, 9 months and 21 days.
Pat was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon and often volunteered with the kitchen work groups and Wednesday night suppers. She also enjoyed league bowling, family camping/fishing trips, baking banana bread for her grandchildren, making Christmas treats and pig in the blankets and girl trips with her daughters and granddaughters. Pat was always very proud of her children and grandchildren and supported them in all they did by attending as many of their activities as possible.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Lori (Joe) Pohlen of Hospers, IA; Kevin (Staci) Kleinhesselink; Trisha (Ryan) Cannoy and Justin (Kellye) Kleinhesselink all of Sheldon, IA; 16 grandchildren, Dr. Emily (Richard) Wilcox III, Joseph, Jamie, Cindy, Larissa and Lucas Pohlen, Colby (Amanda) Kleinhesselink, Jaden (Carley) Kleinhesselink, Maliah and Makenna Kleinhesselink, Brianna, Jonathan and Alexis Cannoy, Harper, Beckham and Willow Kleinhesselink and a great-granddaughter, Elowyn Wilcox and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents, Howard and Geraldean Hofmeyer; her in-laws, Henry W. and Hattie Kleinhesselink; her 2 brothers, George and Eldon Hofmeyer and a sister-in-law, Joan Van Gorp.
