Roger Van Dyke

Mr. Roger Van Dyke, age 59, of Orange City, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at his residence.

 There will be a funeral service on Saturday, April 26, at 3:30pm, at the First Reformed Church Chapel in Orange City. The Rev. Timothy Breen will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation with the family will be the hour before the service on Saturday at the church.

 Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Roger Dean was born on November 29, 1954, in Orange City, the son of Arie and Rena (Roorda) Van Dyke.  He was a baptized member of the First Reformed.  He was raised at Orange City, where he graduated from the Orange City Christian School and attended Maurice – Orange City High School.

He made his home in Orange City and the Sioux City area, working as a truck driver.  In recent years, he was a faithful caregiver to his mother.

Roger enjoyed watching sports on television and visiting with friends and relatives.  He was known for his infectious smile and hearty laugh.

Survivors include his mother, Rena Van Dyke, of Orange City; two sisters, Verla, and her husband, Don Van Sloten, of Ireton, and ReNae Van Voorst, of Orange City; a sister-in-law, Dee Ann Van Dyke, of Orange City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; an infant sister, Donna Mae; and his brother, Arlen, on April 13, 2014.

Memorials will be directed to the Sioux City Gospel Mission.
