Sally was born to Arthur and Jennie (Huisman) Beek, just outside of George, Iowa. She grew up on a farm two miles southeast of Cloverdale and went to country school through second grade. She then attended Central School and graduated from Sibley High School.
On January 2, 1958, Sally was united in marriage to Jim Heronimus in Emery, South Dakota. The couple resided near Bridgewater, South Dakota for five years before moving to Cloverdale, Iowa for thirteen years. Through these years, the couple was blessed with three children: Ken, Kevin, and Kandice. Sally and her family then resided just southeast of Sibley since 1976.
Sally enjoyed helping others in her nursing career, evidence of her servant-heart and true gift to care. She worked at the Osceola Community Hospital for a time, working with Dr. Thomas, Dr. Helmers, and Dr. Hicks. She then later worked at the Family Medicine Clinic.
Sally found peace and enjoyment through God’s creation and gardening. The feel of sunshine and the songs of birds always brought such contentment and a sense of God’s presence in her life. Throughout the years, Sally also found great enjoyment in playing the piano and playing softball.
Most of all, Sally always loved being surrounded by her family and close loved ones. She radiated love through her giving spirit of homemade goods. From homemade jams and desserts, to canned vegetables, to being an excellent seamstress, Sally shared love with all those in her life. As the heart of the family, her devotion would continue to show through her love of hosting and cooking for extended family gatherings. She was fully devoted to her family, always selflessly pouring out her love for them.
Sally is survived by her husband Jim Heronimus of 64 years and three children, Ken (Sandy) Heronimus of Sibley, Iowa, Kevin (Deborah) Heronimus of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Kandice (Doug) Fooshee of Madison, Alabama; six grandchildren, Derek (Ashley) Heronimus, Ashlee (Josh) Terpstra, Caleb (Pari) Heronimus, Rachel Heronimus, Gabriel Heronimus, and Lexi Fooshee; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Art (Dyana) Beek of Madrid, Iowa; sister Sheryl Frey of Sibley, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Betty (Melvin) Eilts of Spencer, South Dakota, Bonnie Beaudoin of Sundance, Wyoming, and Carol (Ron) Olthoff of Great Falls, Montana; brother-in-law Richard Naser of Mitchell, South Dakota; and her many nieces and nephews.
