Sandra Van Der Zwaag

Mrs. Sandra Van Der Zwaag, age 62, of Hull, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at Sioux Center Health.

There will be a funeral service on Monday, December 8, at 10:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Loren Kotman will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Visitation with the family present will be on Sunday, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Sandra Kay was born on August 15, 1952, in Tyler, Minnesota, the daughter of Wyman and Lois (Hurley) Foote. She was raised at Bigelow, Minnesota, and later moved to Sibley, where she worked at the truck stop.

On October 26, 1979, she married Jake Anthony Van Der Zwaag in Sibley. They made their home east of Hull, where she was employed at the Foreign Candy Company, the Countryside Drive-In, and the Cenex Convenience Store. Jake passed away on January 28, 2000, in Sioux Center.

Sandy was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church. She also belonged to the Wegman-Koele American Legion Post Auxiliary in Hull, where she served as president for many years.

She enjoyed baking, canning, crocheting, embroidering, gardening, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her four children, Kenneth Van Der Zwaag, and his wife, Rhonda, of Hull; Darcy Mulder, of Hull; Jay Foote, of Hull; and Amy, and her husband, Chad Cleveringa, of Alton; ten grandchildren, Joshua Techen, Kody Foote, Kyle Techen, Cassandra Van Der Zwaag, Kaitlyn Van Der Zwaag, Jacob Foote, McKenna Cleveringa, Kaylor Cleveringa, Braleigh Cleveringa, and Ryden Cleveringa; two brothers and their wives, Jerry and Diane Foote, of Des Moines; and Bryon and Julie Foote, of Worthington, Minnesota; and several nephews and nieces.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
