Sherri Schneidermann Kone

Sherri Schneidermann Kone, age 58, from Sibley IA, now residing in Korhogo West Africa passed away on Monday, August 31st.

A remembrance service will be held Tuesday, September 8th at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Sibley, IA.

Sherri Sue Schneidermann was born March 14th, 1962 to Kriene and Marilyn (VerSteeg) Schneidermann at the Sibley hospital during a snowstorm. Her father had to use a Ford tractor and loader to get to the hospital. Her brother Cordell was happy to welcome her into the family, and she had 2 more brothers as life went on. Sherri enjoyed being outdoors, riding horses and spending time with family and friends. She was very involved in sports through her adolescent years until a hip injury in high school. Sherri graduated from Sibley High school in 1980 and went on to graduate from St. Luke’s nursing school, Briar cliff college with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Grace College of The Bible, and Calvary Theological Seminary with a Masters in Biblical Counseling.

Sherri started her missionary adventures with WorldVenture in January of 1987. She greatly enjoyed her time as a missionary in Cote’Ivoire, working as a nurse at the Baptist Mission Hospital in Ferkessedougou. She was a big encourager to other missionaries and many others. Sherri worked hard to gather supplies and to ship them overseas for the hospital and for people in the villages. She also worked in different leadership roles both in her ministries and at the hospital. During the civil war in 2002 when they were shooting over the hospital most of the staff was hunkered down and hiding, Sherri went out and took food to the hospital workers.

Sherri was a person that no matter what she did, it was done with excellence. She put her whole heart into everything she did. She was a very caring and compassionate person who would jump in to help whenever or wherever she was needed.

When in the States Sherri traveled a lot doing mission work as well as visiting her supporters. She enjoyed being out on the family farm and spending time with her family and friends. Sherri married Gozie Kone December 18th, 2010. They adopted their granddaughter Emma in 2018. Sherri went to be with our Lord on Monday, August 31st, 2020 in Africa.

Sherri is survived by her husband Gozie Kone, daughter Emma, 6 step-children, and 5 step-grandchildren; her mother Marilyn Schneidermann and friend Gene Van Stelton of Sibley IA; brothers Cordell and wife MaryLou Schneidermman of Ithica, NE, Kelly, and Trudy (Kroontje) Schneidermann of Melvin IA, Michael Schneidermann and friend Darcy Kramer of Sibley, IA; nieces April Schneidermann, Susie Schneiderman of Ocheyedan, IA & Katie (Schneidermann) & Tom Van Kley Of Tea, SD; nephews Jake Schneidermann & Devan Schneiderman; great-nephews, nieces, and one great-great-nephew.
