Sid Wagenaar, age 95, of Sheldon, Iowa, formerly of Archer, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon.
Memorial Services will be Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at Archer Reformed Church in Archer, Iowa. Rev. Jeremy Wiersema officiating.
Graveside Service at 12:30 P.M. on Thursday, July 10, friends and family to meet at the grave site at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa, at 12:15 P.M.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 9, from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

Sidney Wagenaar was born on January 14, 1919 at Ferwerd, in the Friesland Province of the Netherlands. He was the son of Hendrik and Symke (Halma) Wagenaar. Sid came to the United States in 1923 with his family and moved to the Archer, Iowa area where he attended a country school.
He was united in marriage to Jennie Van Heuvelen of Archer, Iowa on February 20, 1941. The couple farmed and raised their four children on a farm near Archer. In 1957, they purchased the Archer Hardware Store which they owned and operated until retiring in 1989. In the years following their retirement, they were able to travel the United States visiting their children and other relatives. They felt very blessed to be married for nearly 66 years. Jennie passed away on December 14, 2006.
Sid moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon, Iowa in the spring of 2007, where he enjoyed playing Snooker. Sid also enjoyed fishing and playing a small squeeze box accordion called a concertina.
He was a faithful member of the Archer Reformed Church.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children: Robert and wife Marie Wagenaar of Middletown, DE, Marlene Wagenaar of Waterloo, IA, Howard and wife Vicki Wagenaar of Alcester, SD; son-in-law: Russ King of Nisswa, MN; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother: Jake Wagenaar of Sheldon, IA; one sister-in-law: Mabel (Mike) Wagenaar of Sheldon, IA.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jennie; one daughter: Myrna King; his parents; 2 brothers: Mike Wagenaar and Bill (Priscilla) Wagenaar; 2 sisters: Jenny Wagenaar and Agnes (Art) Vander Griend; sister-in-law: Johanna (Mrs. Jake) Wagenaar.
