Sioux City, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played October 23-29, 2017. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2017-2018 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Setter – Jamie Gesink, Dordt College
Jamie Gesink of Dordt is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Gesink, a junior from Sioux Center, Iowa, averaged 11 assists per set as Dordt went 3-0 last week and earned a pair of victories over ranked opponents. In addition she averaged over three digs per set including 19 against no. 9 Midland. She totaled 134 assists over the three game span.
Defender – Summer Jansen, Dordt College (Defensive Specialist)
Summer Jansen of Dordt is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Jansen, a senior from Sheldon, Iowa, handled 52 serve receptions without an error in three match wins this week. She had 35 digs in a five set win over #9 Midland. For the week she had 63 total digs. Jansen currently leads the conference in digs per set.
