Northwestern College fell three spots in this week’s edition of the NAIA Football Coaches’ poll released by the national office Monday.
Ranked third in last week’s poll, Northwestern dropped out of the top five after falling to top-ranked Morningside 42-34 last weekend. The Red Raiders, now 6-1 on the season, hold down the No.6 spot this week and join both Morningside and Midland (RV) as teams from the Great Plains Athletic Conference recognized in the national poll.
Morningside holds the top spot for the third straight poll, owning an 8-0 record. The Mustangs, one of four undefeated teams left in the NAIA, received 15 of the 16 possible first place votes. Marian (Ind.) continues to be ranked second, followed by Reinhardt (Ga.), Grand View (Iowa) and Bethel (Tenn.).
Northwestern heads to Hastings, Neb. to play the Broncos this weekend.
