2019 GPAC Men’s Soccer Postseason Tournament

Sioux City, Iowa – The 2019 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Men’s Soccer Tournament, presented by Cypress Risk Management, will open on Wednesday, November 6, with quarterfinal round action.

The top seed in the tournament is regular season champion Morningside (10-1 GPAC, 30 pts.), while Midland is the two seed (9-1-1 GPAC, 28 pts.).  The three seed is Hastings (9-2 GPAC, 27 pts.) and the fourth seed is Briar Cliff (9-2 GPAC, 27 pts.). Hastings is the three seed with their head to head win over Briar Cliff.  The five seed goes to Northwestern (6-5 GPAC, 18 pts.).  The six seed goes to Concordia (5-4-2 GPAC, 17 pts.), while the seventh seed is Jamestown (4-5-2 GPAC, 14 pts.).  The eighth seed is Mount Marty (3-7-1 GPAC, 10 pts.).  Mount Marty received the eight seed by way of their NAIA Modified RPI over Doane as stipulated in the GPAC tiebreakers.

Three points were awarded for every conference win, one for each tie, and no points for a conference loss in the GPAC standings.

Wednesday’s winners will meet in the semifinals on Saturday, November 9, with the GPAC Championship Match on Thursday, November 14.

The winner of the GPAC Tournament will advance, as the league’s second automatic representative, to the NAIA National Men’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round (on November 22-23).  If the regular season champion (Morningside) wins the Tournament, the regular season runner-up (Midland) will receive the second NAIA berth to the postseason.

Sixteen teams will advance to the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship Final Site in Irvine, California, December 2 – December 7, 2019, at the Orange County Great Park Soccer Stadium.
