A Dordt University Defender and a Northwestern College Red Raider earn GPAC Player-of-the-Week honors

Sioux City, Iowa – A Dordt University Defender and a Northwestern College Red Raider have been named Great Plains Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Players-of-the-Week as announced by the GPAC Tuesday, February 11th.

Luke Rankin of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men’s basketball offensive player-of-the-week.  Rankin, a senior from Grimes, Iowa, was efficient on offense in a pair of Dordt wins. He shot 65 percent from the floor, converted on 57 percent of his three-point shots while averaging 15.5 points per game, to go along with eight assists, four rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.

Rankin set up the game winning buzzer-beater against Northwestern with an assist.

Zach LaFave of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men’s basketball defensive player-of-the-week.  LaFave, senior from Elkhorn, Nebraska, picked up three steals and two blocks on the week as Northwestern went 1-1 against top-15 teams Dordt and Concordia.

In Saturday’s win over the Bulldogs, he scored 15 points, had two blocks, and collected two steals. In two games, he totaled six boards and four assists.
