Regional – Athletes from Northwestern College and Dordt University have been named Football Players-of-the-Week as announced by the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Monday morning, Sept. 30th.
Northwestern quarterback Colby Duncan is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Duncan, a freshman from Papillion, Nebraska, had over 400 yards of offense in his first career start, completing 21 of his 24 passes for 375 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball nine times for 56 yards and a score. Duncan finished the game with a quarterback rating of 246.3. The Red Raiders host Concordia on October 5. Kick off will be at 1:30 pm.
Stephen Leinen of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Leinen, a sophomore from Harlan, Iowa, converted all four of his field goal attempts with two of them from 40 yards or longer. He also made all three PAT attempts and kicked off eight times with three touchbacks and three kicks returned for a total of 42 yards. The Defenders will host Doane on October 5. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
