Altena Named To NAIA All-Tournament Team

The NAIA Volleyball National Championship All-Tournament team was announced at the conclusion of the event in Sioux City, Iowa on Saturday, December 1 and Dordt’s Ema Altena (Senior; Sioux Center, Iowa) was on the list for the third straight year.

Altena led the Defenders in kills through the season and was good for 4.05 kills per set with a .355 kill efficiency in the five matches at the Championship. Altena also had seven service aces and handled 65-67 serve receptions cleanly.

“Ema had a wonderful National tournament and contributed mightily in scoring points for us not only in attacking and blocking but also ace serves. She is a fierce competitor and along with her teammates, gave everything she had to make us successful once again in the National tournament. We praise God for this honor,” said Dordt College volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

The Defenders were 4-1 in at the National Championship and advanced to the quarterfinal round of bracket play before their season came to an end with a 31-3 record.
