Des Moines, Iowa — Aplington-Parkersburg and top-seeded Boyden-Hull collide Thursday morning in the class 2A semifinals at the boys’ state tournament.
Aplington-Parkersburg got 34 points from Jayden Mackie in a first round win over Van Meter.
That’s Aplington-Parkersburg coach Aaron Thomas who knows the Comets will be a huge challenge.
Boyden-Hull is undefeated and looking to get back to the championship game for a third straight year. The Comets’ last loss came at the hands of the Sheldon Orabs late last season before rolling to a state championship.
In the quarterfinal round, Boyden-Hull overcame a slow start in the first quarter to advance to the Thursday morning 2A semifinals with a 74-49 win over 8 seed South Central Calhoun. The Comets were led in scoring by Kelderman with a game high 27 points, and Tanner Te Slaa added another 19 points.
