Bonestroo and Dahl Sign With NWC Wrestling

Northwestern logoSkyler Bonestroo and Matthew Dahl have each signed letters of intent to continue their wrestling careers at Northwestern beginning this fall.

Bonestroo, the son of Dean and Steph, is a 197 lb. wrestler from Western Christian. He has earned four letters for Western and has a career record of 140-37 including a 41-5 record this season and a 5th place finish at the Iowa High School State Championships. Bonestroo also finished 7th last season at the State Championships.

Bonestroo, an honor roll member for four years, plans to major in Education while at Northwestern.

“We couldn’t be more excited to get this local product on board,” said head wrestling coach Rik Dahl. “He is certainly a quality wrestler and his two state medals attest to that, but more important, he is a quality young man. We feel strongly that he will add to our team culture in a positive way!”

Dahl, the son of Rik and Amy, is a 157 lb. wrestler from MOC-FV High School. He has 94 career wins and went 29-9 as a senior, lettering for the fourth time in his career. Dahl was named First Team All-Siouxland Conference in 2016 and 2017 and was a state qualifier in 2017. He also won five tournament championships and is a two-time sectional champion (2016//2017). Dahl also has 61 career falls and 178 career take-downs. A three year team captain, Dahl also won the team MVP award in 2016 and 2017.

Dahl, a member of the honor roll and Pride of the Dutchmen Band, plans to major in Elementary Education/Special Education while at Northwestern.

“This one has been 18 years coming!” said head coach Rik Dahl. “We believe Matthew has a very high ceiling and could make an immediate impact in our program in the 157-165 area. His familiarity to the program will make the transition to NWC an easier one.”
