Boyden-Hull Falls To Denver At State Volleyball

5 seed Boyden-Hull fell to 4 seed Denver Tuesday afternoon at the State Volleyball tournament.

In Set 1, Denver was the first to ten, at 10-6, but Boyden-Hull rallied back and tied the set up at 11 each. The Comets took the lead and were the first to 15, at 15-12. Denver came back tied the set up at 18-18. Boyden-Hull was the first to 20, at 20-18, but Denver again tied the set up at 20’s, and the Cyclones took the lead 21-20. Denver held on to win set one, 25-22

Boyden-Hull was the first to 5 in set 2, up 5-3. The Comets and Cyclones continued to battle point for point, but with a 4-0 run Boyden-Hull was first to 15, at 15-10. Boyden-Hull continued their run to extend their lead to 20-10. The Comets took set 2 25-11 with a 14-1 run.

The Comet offense continued to click early as Boyden-Hull jumped out to a 5-2 lead, but Denver responded to tie things up at 5. Denver was the first to 10, at 10-9, but a 6-2 run had Boyden-Hull back up 15-14 in the third. The Comets were the first to 20 at 20-17. A point for point battle ensued, but Denver came away with the set win 25-22.

Denver started set four off by avoiding blocks and putting kills where they needed to be to take at 10-7 lead. Denver continued to lead at 15-10. After a Denver 17-10 lead, Boyden-Hull went a 6-0 run to pull within 1 at 17-16. The set was knotted up at 20-20, and again at 23-23. Extra points were needed, and Denver won 26-24.

Boyden-Hull ends the year at 24-8
