Sioux Center, Iowa — Six members of the Northwestern women’s golf team turned in career-best rounds, and the Defenders were led by Rachel Bostwick with a career best 81 on the final day of the Dordt Invite, a two-day, 36-hole event held at The Ridge in Sioux Center.
Northwestern carded a 341 for the second straight day and finished in sixth place overall with a two-day total of 682, two strokes behind Dakota Wesleyan and five shots behind Iowa Lakes Community College. The Defenders posted a day two 356 for a two-day total of 710, good for seventh place.
Morningside won the event with a 595 and Laia Badosa and Sofia Castelan each shot a 148 to force a playoff won by Badosa.
57 golfers and eight teams made up the field.
Kate Wynja was the top finisher for Northwestern’s squad, tying for 16th place with a 169. The junior closed the tournament with a season-best 81 this afternoon and recorded her fifth top 20 showing.
Morgan Roberts finished just one stroke in back, alone in 19th place with a 170, followed by Taylor Van Ostrand, who shot a career-best round (84) and tied for 20th overall. Hayley Carlson placed 22nd with a 172 and Maddie Schrack tied for 36th with a two-day score of 180.
Northwestern’s second team was led by Martha Stein, who closed the tournament with a career-best 83 to finish tied for 27th with a 177. Abby Vander Laan placed 41st (188), followed by Brialle Koerselman with a career-best 92 today and tied for 43rd. Sophie Swart (46th – 95/98) and Meredith Hochstetler (53rd – 215..closed with a career-best 101) round out the second team scores.
Both Mia Hoogeveen (T43rd) and Ashley Monjaras (48th), playing as individuals, shot career-best rounds today. Hoogeveen carded a 90 and Monjaras shot a 98 today.
