Central Lyon Advances To Region Final With Win Over Boyden-Hull

Rock Rapids, Iowa — Central Lyon Girls defend the home court in a Class 2A Region 1 Semi-Final against Boyden-Hull and move on to the Region Championship on Wednesday night. The championship game has been assigned to the Kingsley Pierson High School Gym.

The Lions started out the game scoring quickly and put five players in the scorebook in the first quarter and would lead 16-8 heading in to the second quarter. The second quarter was back and forth, and the Lions would push their lead to 30 – 20 at Intermission. The third quarter belonged to the Lions behind the hot shooting from Desta Hoogendorn with 10 points in the frame pushing the Lions out to a 51-36 advantage. The Comets were forced to foul down the stretch putting the Lions at the free throw line and made 8 of 10 free throws and would go on to post a 68-49 win.

With the win, the Lions improve to 21-2 on the year and the Comets end their season with a record of 12 – 11.

Central Lyon moves on to play Wednesday night in the Region Championship against Ridge View at Kingsley-Pierson High School.
