Central Lyon Ousted by Defending State Champs

central lyon logoUnranked Central Lyon fell to top ranked and defending 1A Champion Burlington Notre Dame in Monday’s quarterfinals. The Lady Lions did not go down without a fight. The Nikes were not able to get any real separation until late in the fourth quarter as they posted a 78-60 final score with reserves putting up points in the final two minutes for both teams.

Burlington Notre Dame led 20-11 at the end of the first quarter with Cenral Lyon pulling within 35-31 at halftime. At the end of the third quarter it was all even at 49-49 with the fourth quarter surge propelling Notre Dame to the win.

The Nike’s got a game high 21 points from Taylor Hickey, 17 from Kori Mesecher and 13 from Courtney Coffin.

Central Lyon was led by Sarah Halse with 19 points. She was joined by Ivy Sieperda with 13 and Angel Rasmussen with 12.

The defending Champions move on to the semis with a 24-1 record. Central Lyon who downed the Nike’s for the title in 2013 end the year at 18-7.
