Central Lyon swept Sheldon in Souxland Conference basketball in Rock Rapids Tuesday night. The Girls game went to the Lions 54-37 while the boys won 79-57.
Central Lyon led at all the breaks up 17-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Orabs pulled to within 5 23-18 at the half and closed the gap to 37-34 going into the fourth quarter. The game stayed close until the midway point of the fourth as Central Lyon went on a finishing run and posted the 54-37 win.
Sheldon got a 16 point effort from Claire Johnson. She tied Addison Klosterbuer who hit for 16 of her own in the game leading the charge at the end with 13 points coming in the second half. Kaylee Davis and Desta Hoogendoorn were next with 9 points each.
With the win Central Lyon is 15-1 on the year and 12-1 in the conference. Sheldon stands at 9-9 for the year and 6-8 in the Siouxland.
In the boys game the Lions took a 25-18 first quarter lead and expanded that to a 44-30 halftime advantage. The offense continued to roll as they went up 65-41 at the end of three and get the win 79-57.
Zach Lutmer had a game high 24 points. He was joined in double figures by Mason Gerleman with 19 points and Andrew Austin with a 15 point night. Sheldon had a trio in double figures as well with Shane Brouwer leading the way with 19 points. Ryan Vollink hit for a dozen with Blake Radke pumping in 10.
With the win Central Lyon is 14-1 on the year and 11-1 in the conference. Sheldon falls to 6-11 on the season and 4-9 in the conference. Up next for the Orabs will be a home doubleheader with West Lyon on Friday. Central Lyon will be at Okoboji.
