Class 1A And 2A Baseball Brackets Out

Baseball substate brackets for the 2023 postseason are now available for Class 2A and Class 1A.

The first round of postseason games in 2A and 1A are scheduled for Saturday, July 1, then second round district games on Wednesday, July 5. Winners will advance to the Saturday, July 8 district final, followed by substate final games set for Tuesday, July 11.

Brackets for Class 4A and Class 3A will be released next week (June 26-29).

Eight teams from each classification will advance to the 2023 IHSAA State Baseball Tournament, currently scheduled for July 17-21 in Carroll (2A, 1A) and Iowa City (4A, 3A).

CLASS 2A

CLASS 1A

In Class 2A Sheldon was assigned to District 1 of Substate 1. The Orabs open tournament play on Saturday 7/1 in a 7:00 pm game hosted by Okoboji. The 5:00 pm game has Emmetsburg against Sioux Central. First-round byes went to Estherville Lincoln Central and Forest City.

In District 2 the first round will be hosted by Central Lyon. The 5:00 pm game has Sibley Ocheyedan vs West Sioux. The 7:00 pm game matches Western Christian and Central Lyon. First-round byes went to West Lyon and Unity Christian.

In Class 1A most area teams were assigned to District 1 of Substate 1. Saturday has MMCRU hosting a pair of first-round games. At 5:00 it’s George Little Rock vs Hartley Melvin Sanborn. The 7:00 pm game has South O’Brien against host team MMCRU. Harris Lake Park was assigned to District 2 with their first game at 5:00 pm against West Hancock at Bishop Garrigan. Remsen St Mary’s got the only bye in District 13 of Substate 7.

Gehlen Catholic and Akron Westfield are both in District 16 of Substate 8. Gehlen will host Siouxland Christian in a 7:00 pm contest. Akron Westfield will host West Monona in another 7:00 pm game.
