The Boyden Hull Comets will make a return trip to the State Volleyball Tournament following a 3-0 straight set win in the 2A Class Region 1 final played at the Sioux City East Gym Wednesday night.
The 4th ranked Comets downed #13 Ridge View on set scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-16. Senior Jewel Bergstrom was the assists leader with 35. Three players shared the lead in blocks with two each. They were seniors Macy Verhoef and Marissa Pottebaum along with junior Reagan Damstra. Senior Sarah Boogert had 17 digs.
At the serve receive line junior Avery Noble was a perfect 16 of 16. Sarah Boogerd went 13 of 15. Freshman Dennie Boogerd went 9 of 11 with a team high 3 ace serves. As a team the Comets had a team serve efficiency of 90.4 percent with 7 ace serves. Boyden Hull will take a 28-5 record into the 2A quarterfinals with a 4:00 pm match on Tuesday.
