Hull, Iowa –The Boyden-Hull Comets hosted the Hinton Blackhawks in Class 2A Substate 1 District 2 in Semi-finals action on Thursday evening and the Comets defended the home court 75-45.
The Comets started the contest on fire draining five three pointers in the first quarter on their way to a 19-7 lead after one. The Comets defensive pressure forced some turnovers and kept the Blackhawks offense silent and pushed out to a 39-12 lead at the break behind 12 points a piece from Tanner Te Slaa and Marcus Kelderman. The Blackhawk’s offense came alive in the third quarter, but the Comets kept pace and led 60-30 after three and would go on to a 75-45 win.
Marcus Kelderman led the Comets with 24 points and Tanner Te Slaa dropped in 17. The Blackhawks were led in scoring by Tate Linton with 9 points and Nick Batcheller stole the show with 6 points on two 3’s coming off of the bench late in the fourth.
The Comets improved to 22-0 on the season and the Blackhawks end their season with a 10-13 mark.
The Comets move in to play Tuesday, February 23 @ 7pm against Unity Christian at West Lyon.
