Comets Take Two From Orabs Friday Night

Boyden Hull defended the home floor against Sheldon Friday night as both the boys and girls teams found their offense in the second half and rolled to a pair of wins. The girls game went to the Comets 53-41 with the boys final 74-43.

In the girls game Sheldon trailed 14-10 at the end of the first quarter but took the lead in the second quarter and were up 23-22 at halftime. In the third the Orabs went cold and the Comets got hot outscoring Sheldon 15-1 to take a 35-24 third quarter lead. The Comets kept the offense rolling and picked up the win 53-41.

Jewel Bergstrom and Marissa Pottebaum hit double figures with 17 points each. Sheldon got a game high 19 from Claire Johnson. With the win Boyden Hull is 3-4 on the year and in the conference. Sheldon falls to 3-5 on the season and 1-5 in the Siouxland.

The boys game followed a similar story line to the girls contest with Sheldon in front 14-11 at the end of the first 8 minutes. At the half the Comets had moved in front 30-22. The offense hit high gear in the third quarter and suddenly Boyden Hull held a 52-31 lead. The offense continued to roll in the fourth quarter and the Comets had the win 74-43.

Boyden Hull put three players in double figures led by Vance Katzfey with a game high 22. Tanner Te Slaa and Bryan Zylstra both hit for 14 points. Sheldon had one player in double figures with Ryan Vollink dropping in 12. Anthony Provost and Shane Brouwer were next with 8 points apeace.

With the win Boyden Hull is 5-1 on the year and in the conference. Sheldon is now 3-4 on the season and 2-3 in the conference. Both teams return to action on Tuesday. The Orabs will host Sioux Center. Boyden Hull closes the pre Christmas schedule a Okoboji.
