Cyclones Earn Spot In Preseason Poll

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State football team will enter the 2020 season ranked in the Associated Press’ preseason poll for the second season in a row.

The Cyclones are rated No. 23 in the debut AP poll of 2020, joining three other Big 12 teams: #5 Oklahoma, #14 Texas and #15 Oklahoma State.

Iowa State ended a 41-year drought a year ago when it was ranked No. 21 in the first AP poll of 2019.

Iowa State has appeared in the AP poll in each of the last three seasons, compiling an overall 23-16 mark, the second-best three-year winning stretch in school history.

The Cyclones return 14 players who have earned All-Big 12 recognition, including seven first- or second-teamers. Six Cyclone players were represented on 12 preseason national award watch lists.

ISU begins the 2020 campaign by playing host to Louisiana on Sept. 12 in Jack Trice Stadium.
