Cyclones Fall To Oklahoma In Norman, 79-66

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma (12-3, 2-1 Big 12) erased an 11-point second half deficit en route to a 79-66 victory over No. 11 Iowa State (13-2, 1-2 Big 12) Saturday night in Norman.

The Sooners went on a 19-2 run late in the second half to take command, as OU shot a torrid 81.8 percent from the field (18-22 FG) in the second half and 61.7 percent for the game. Umoja Gibson led OU with 20 points.

Izaiah Brockington and Tyrese Hunter each scored 20 points to pace the Cyclones. It was Brockington’s sixth 20-point game of the year and a new career high for Hunter.

The Cyclones only attempted one free-throw to the Sooners’ 17 attempts at the charity stripe.

Brockington was the main reason the Cyclones had a 36-32 lead at the break. The senior scored 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting, making his first seven shots on the night, including a pair of treys.

OU stayed close by hitting 6-of-10 shots from beyond the arc.

A quick 11-4 spurt to begin the second half gave the Cyclones a 47-36 lead. Hunter scored three buckets on fastbreak drives in the run, as ISU forced three turnovers.

The Sooners got right back into the game, closing the gap to 57-56 with under nine minutes remaining. It was a 69-61 OU lead with under four minutes left.
