Albany New York — UAlbany men’s basketball head coach Will Brown has announced that Dallas Ennema, Mike Rowley and Joe Cremo will serve as team captains for the 2016-17 season.
Brown said, “We are excited to name Mike, Dallas, and Joe captains for the 2016-17 season. I think the three of them will work well together and they will have a positive impact on the 2016-17 team.”
All three will serve as team captains for the first time in their collegiate careers. They were officially named as captains on Tuesday October 25th.
Brown added, “Mike and Dallas are seniors who have been in our program for 4 years and they understand the expectations we have for our players and program, they are both outstanding student-athletes who have the capabilities to be effective leaders.”
Ennema the former Sheldon Orab has served the Great Danes the past three years, being a key reserve for UAlbany in 2015-16. In 32 games, he shot 33.8% from three-point range, picking up 4.4 points and 2.4 rebounds a contest. At the conclusion of his high school career Dallas was named the Iowa Class 2A player of the year as the Orabs won the 2A State Basketball Title.
Rowley has played with the Great Danes the past three seasons, including starting every game as a junior. Last season, he shot 58.1% from the field for 8.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Cremo was the 2015-16 America East Rookie of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year. In 33 games as a reserve, he shot 51.4% from the field and 85.9% from the free throw line, scoring 10.5 points a game.
The UAlbany men’s basketball team has been predicted to finish third in the America East Conference in the 2016-17 season. The Great Danes finished 13-3 in the America East last season, earning second place in the league. UAlbany went 24-9 overall, matching a program Division I record in victories.The season opener comes Friday November 11th at Penn State.
