Dordt At Day Two Of South Dakota Challenge

Three members of the Dordt University men’s track and field team set personal bests on day two of the South Dakota Challenge, a three-day meet hosted by the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.

Luke Bousema was the top Dordt finisher, placing 10th in the pole vault (4.17m).

Micah Brands and Ryan Schober ran personal bests in the 200m. Brands placed 24th out of 83 runners with a time of 22.14, ninth fastest in the GPAC (wind-aided). Schober placed 36th and crossed the finish line in 22.57 (wind-aided).

Josiah Merkle recorded a personal best toss in the javelin (23.80m).

Women’s Results:

The Dordt University women’s track and field team set 11 personal best times / marks on day two of the South Dakota Challenge.

Emma Bakker was the top Defender finisher in an event, placing eighth out of 73 runners in the 200m. Bakker posted a personal-best time of 25.02 which is currently the fastest in the GPAC (the time was wind-aided however). Six additional Defenders ran personal bests in the 200m, including Alexandra Beckmann (25.99), Emily Wingert (26.64), Tayah Struble (28.45), Ella Veldkamp (29.52), Megan VanderKooi (29.71) and Grace Kooistra (30.66).

Lynne Tormoehlen set personal best marks in both the javelin (23.61) and hammer (38.96m). Faith Measel (26.63m) and Kelsey Evanhouse (22.95m) also set personal bests in the javelin.
