Winter Haven, Florida — The Dordt baseball team matched up with Hannibal-LaGrange in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader, falling 13-5 at Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven, Florida.
The Trojans went ahead early, scoring six runs in the 1st inning, using a 3-RBI triple to spark their scoring outburst.
Dordt answered in the visiting half of the 2nd as Aaron Eshelman singled to right, sending home Jae Kim and Dylan Stanley.
Hannibal-LaGrange added on another six-run inning in the bottom of the 6th, using four hits to extend their lead to 13-2.
The Defenders created offense in the 7th as Nolan Christianson and Luke November reached in back-to-back plate appearances to score Oliver Walczak, Christianson, and Logan Cline, however the offensive output in the inning was not enough to catch up with the Trojans.

Dordt had five batters with a hit
Hannibal-LaGrange took the doubleheader sweep, jumping ahead early to put together a 15-8 win on Friday afternoon.
The Trojans went ahead 2-0 in the 2nd before Dordt cut the deficit in half the following inning on a ground ball out that allowed Jae Kim to cross the plate.
In the following inning, Hannibal-LaGrange put 10 runs on the board in part due to a grand slam from Hoelscher.
Dordt used the 5th inning to work their way closer, scoring five runs on five hits, including a Cade Hollingsworth double to deep left center with the bases loaded.
Logan Cline hit a home run in the bottom of the 6th to make the score 14-8, but the Trojans added another run to their total to secure the sweep.

Cade Hollingsworth drove in two runs
Dordt will open up GPAC play on Friday, March 18 at Midland.
